Great atmosphere, nice food

Recommended by a friend we recently took a trip to Santry to visit Little Venice. The outside is a bit funny looking. A large squarish building that looks like a hodge podge of add-ons. Turns out it is, a former barracks that dates back around 100 years.
We had the 4 course meal+ wine for 2 people offer so we walked out of the place spending less than €60. The set-menu seems a bit restrictive, but we were told we could pick a mains off the A La Carte.

Starters I had a prawn cocktail, which you never get nowadays, and I loved it…..E went for the soup (veg I think) and she said it was pretty good.

Mains I went for rack of lamb, and E went for the salmon. Both were really tasty and decent portions.

We probably could have skipped dessert – we were stuffed – but ploughed on anyway. Despite a good selection we both went for profiteroles which were plentiful and stickily good. Two coffees rounded off a very pleasant experience.

Service was good without being ‘over the shoulder’, and the seating area is fine without being too fancy. E reckoned its like that because its Italian. I do a lot of business in the Crown Plaza, which is only around the corner. Now I have somewhere to take clients for lunch!
